Past and Future
June 3, 2019
I had the pleasure of meeting with the Kansas City Centurions on Friday, May 31, at the American Jazz Museum at 18thand Vine. The Centurions are a leadership group sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, and, once upon a time, I was also a member. (Don’t ask me when. It was in the previous century!) The program was about the current state of energy in the region and the move away from fossil fuels.
As the resident historian, I told a story about the difference between and similarity to the energy transition in 1895 from horse to car and the current energy transition from gasoline-burning cars to electric or other forms of communication. (I would be glad to share that story with your group. Just let me know when and where!)
Here I am on the platform with such notables as (left to right)
Paul Franzen, Vice President, Senior Analyst at the Commerce Trust Company
Dr. Twyla Dell, Author Fueling Change, Once and Future Kansas City
Rick Hill, Burns & McDonnell, Head of Energy
Greg Greenwood, Evergy’s Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer
Scott Carter, Spire’s President of Missouri’s Utility
Pete Flynn, Equity Analyst for Balyasny
Calvin Girard, Senior HR Business Partner at Evergy
Centurions with my book!
